Johannes serves as the Operations Coordinator of the Steering Committee for Forward California, where he contributes his expertise in political organizing, data-driven strategy, and operational efficiency. His background in both the private and public sectors, including data science and resource optimization, has helped him drive strategic decisions that support the party's mission to build a dynamic, transparent, and collaborative organization.

Johannes' leadership experience began with his role on the Executive Committee of the Colorado Forward Party, where he made significant contributions to the party's organizational structure. As Secretary and a founding member, he played an instrumental role in developing charters for various committees, drafting bylaws, and establishing parliamentary procedures. He has transferred his learning to Forward California to help fast track similar initiatives for third-party organizations.

At Forward California, Johannes is working on creating a policy bank to increase transparency in government spending and support local entities, including NGOs, in securing state contracts. He advocates for restructuring state contracts to promote direct negotiation between the commercial sector, NGOs, and local organizations, ensuring accountability and measurable
outcomes. This approach aims to reduce inefficiencies and enhance the effectiveness of public fund allocation. Johannes is also developing flowcharts to streamline internal processes and creating educational materials to help party members and the public better understand California’s government systems. His work focuses on improving operational efficiency, fostering transparency, and encouraging greater community engagement in policymaking.

As a Senior Managing Data Scientist at Pfizer Inc., Johannes leads efforts to optimize field strategies and resource allocations, directly influencing strategic decisions that resulted in greater operational efficiency. He is also deeply committed to his local community. He serves as the Secretary for his HOA, where he has worked with local leaders - including contractors, councilmen, registered neighborhood organizations, and assembly members – to apply for state historic grant funds that would restore a historic landmark building.

His volunteer work with NGOs, such as Greater Denver Transit, further highlights his commitment to community development; by analyzing ridership data and recommending capacity upgrades, he has supported regional governments in making informed decisions on transportation infrastructure. This experience, coupled with his work with the US State Department, provides
him with a strong understanding of both local and regional governmental dynamics, enabling him to approach community and policy issues from a holistic perspective.

Lastly, Johannes is exploring innovative approaches to community engagement, with a particular focus on social impact bonds as a tool to encourage participation and investment in local communities. This interest reflects his commitment to driving economic development through social innovations that aim to identify services capable of helping cities avoid costly, unsustainable spending.

Outside of his professional and political work, Johannes enjoys a variety of hobbies that reflect his creativity and commitment to community. He is an avid drone enthusiast and a dedicated trombonist at the Ventura College Community Orchestra, which allows him to connect with others through music. He also organizes a local outdoor group, bringing people together for activities like kickball games and hiking trips. Through these activities, he enjoys creating meaningful connections and strengthening his community in a relaxed, engaging way.
