Aimee Groth
Secretary and Communications Director
Aimee Groth’s connection to the Forward movement stretches back fourteen years, when Andrew Yang introduced her to Tony Hsieh at his inaugural Venture for America gala. Hsieh — the late Zappos CEO who sold his company to Amazon and reinvested his fortune into building an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Las Vegas — became the subject of her first book, The Kingdom of Happiness (Simon & Schuster). She went on to support Andrew’s 2020 presidential campaign in Iowa and Los Angeles.
As a journalist, her byline has appeared in TIME, The New York Times, and CNBC. Aimee was formerly a partner at management consultancy HolacracyOne, a pioneer in decentralized organizational design whose early champions included Hsieh and Twitter and Medium co-founder Ev Williams. Today, through her narrative strategy consultancy Third Way Ventures, she works with executives and VC-backed, AI-native companies to help them tell their stories.
As Forward California’s elected Secretary and its Communications Director, she brings a decade of organizational design research and experience to a state defined by tech innovation and the art of storytelling — and the question of how we design systems and institutions that distribute power more equitably.
